Sew Merry & Bright: Fabric Foiling Cards is a festive mini course that shows you how to turn small pieces of fabric into sparkling, tactile Christmas cards — combining textile foiling with stitching for a handmade finish that feels really special.
You’ll be guided through a set of approachable foiling techniques designed specifically for card-making on fabric. I’ll show you how to create your own adhesive stencils in classic Christmas shapes like stars and Christmas trees, so you can foil crisp, clean motifs even if you’re new to the process. Don’t have adhesive stencils? No problem. I also demonstrate an alternative method using bondaweb and MistyFuse, so you can create your own custom shapes.
From there, we’ll build up the designs with stitch: a little hand embroidery for character and detail, and a simple taste of machine embroidery if you want to add faster lines or extra texture.
To finish, you’ll learn how to turn your foiled fabric pieces into cards by backing with felt, cutting out your shapes neatly, and mounting them onto card blanks for a bold, layered look.
